Lent 2026

Reading through the New Testament with the St Peter’s family

Wednesday 18 February to Saturday 4 April

Reading the bible is life changing! The bible is our go-to source for truth, it sets our hearts on fire and its authority in our lives leads to freedom. So we want to read through the new testament together as a church family this Lent. Whether this is your first time of reading through the whole story of Jesus and the early church, or whether you’ve done this many times, the journey ahead is massively exciting!

We’ll experience the story of Jesus’ life, teaching and miracles from the perspective of first-hand eye witnesses, we’ll see the transformation of ordinary people into world changers through the power of the Spirit, we’ll read of the temptations and struggles of ordinary believers like you and me, and how the church worked through these issues together to create a supernatural family, and we’ll get a sneak preview into the future for the church and the world (spoiler alert: it’s paradise!).

We’ll be reading around four to seven chapters a day (15-30 mins depending on length and reading speed), with a day off on Sundays. For those who prefer, there’s an option to listen rather than read.Join us!

There are two ways of doing this – using the YouVersion bible app, or the schedule below.

YouVersion bible app

1. Download the app here: go to the app store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (android)

and search for ‘YouVersion bible app’, or click the button.

2. Then activate the 40-day new testament challenge here:

3. Start on the first day of Lent – Wednesday 18 February (the plan starts on the day

that you activate it, so you can download the app and find the plan whenever you

want, but don’t click ‘start plan’ until Wednesday)

4. Once you open the first reading, you can choose what version of the bible you want

at the top centre of your screen (next to ‘Matthew 1’). Unless you have another

preference we recommend using ‘NIVUK’.

5. You can also choose to read ‘By Myself’ or ‘With Friends’ (if you have links to friends

on the app – why not do it with your Village or other friends?)

Physical bible

1. Even if you use the app to record your progress through the new testament, you may want to use a physical bible as you read.

2. If you don’t want to use the app at all, here are the daily readings:
